HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
There are no prerequisites for this course, however it is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on each of the following
Adult CPR manikin placed on the floor.
Infant CPR manikin placed on firm surface.

Award issued:
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for:
• HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Initial Course duration:
Mixed Mode: Completion of pre-course study plus 4 hours practical training
Face to Face: Minimum of 6 hours face to face training
Important information regarding course durations:
Course durations, as mentioned above, are reflective of group sizes of between 4 and 15 participants. If there are less students in a group, you may find course duration reduced by a maximum of 10%. If a class size exceeds 15 participants, it may therefore also be necessary to increase course duration depending on the number of participants.

Recertification Requirements:
The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that the HLTAID009 unit be renewed every 12 months, in line with industry standards. Most companies requiring you to have a first aid certificate enforce these recommendations
